Meet Our Board 

Chaplain Bordges was commissioned in 2021 and now serves as the BN Chaplain for the 143rd MP BN in Los Angeles CA. Prior to entering the Chaplain Corps, he served for over fifteen years as a Pastor at both the Antioch Wesleyan Church and currently as the pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church in Vista, CA. 


 His academic education includes an MDiv from Azusa Pacific University and a BA in Sociology/Criminology from California State University San Marcos. His military education includes the Direct Commission Course at Fort Jackson, SC. Prior to the current assignment, Chaplain Bordges served as the BN Chaplain, for the 184 th Infantry BN out of Modesto, California, while he also served as the Senior Pastor of Antioch Wesleyan Church in Antioch, CA. CH Bordges is ordained through The Wesleyan Church where he has pastored and been a part of the Pacific Southwest District. He was honored to be the multi-ethnic church representative for the Pacific Southwest District to the denomination for two years while there was a nationwide emphasis in diverse growth and leadership development. 


Chaplain Bordges also has extensive experience in youth development as he coordinated multiple programs in North County San Diego focusing on drug and gang prevention among at risk middle and high school youth. Chaplain Bordges is married to Kelley and they reside in Vista, CA where they raise four amazing children: Grace, a high school senior, Gabby a high school freshmen, Jayson Jr., in 7 th grade and Noelle, in first grade. Grace and Gabby play on the praise team at their local church Jayson Jr. is concurrently enrolled in middle school as well as the local junior college taking the Calculus II class and Noelle is discovering her gifts and talents.

Elise Braganza co-founded Silver Fern Child & Family Therapy, Inc. in 2015 and is the program director and supervisor for the Associate Therapist Program. Elise provides psychotherapy for those with complex trauma and specializes in neurobiological and mindfulness treatments that treat maladaptive behavior as well as enhances creativity and performance. As a multicultural, multiracial, and women-owned small business owner, she knows what it takes to establish and maintain a successful company with zero debt and considerable profit. 

 A strategic and intentional leader, Elise is dedicated to curating safe spaces for the BIPOC community to grow and heal. Her authenticity and engaging communications skills ensure the promotion of corporate and public welfare alike. As one of the founding families of Chosen, Elise shares the qualities and objectives that Chosen’s faith-based mission was founded upon. She embodies the culture and vision to assist in developing the game of youth basketball and expand its valuable impact

With a robust professional background spanning 24 years at Chevron, Nakia Washington has honed a wealth of experience in managing organizational challenges and leading teams. As a founding member of the Equipment Data Management (EDM) Team, Nakia Washington played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between user requirements and computer programming, ensuring seamless communication and implementation of changes. 

Inspired by the remarkable growth of Chosen Leagues from a basketball training program to a full-fledged league, Nakia Washington is deeply aligned with its faith-based mission. Although new to the nonprofit sector, Nakia Washington brings a fresh perspective and a commitment to volunteerism, having actively participated in various nonprofit activities.


 While Nakia Washington does not have formal experience in managing budgets beyond personal household finances, their dedication to the growth and mission of Chosen Leagues is unwavering. As a board member, Nakia Washington aims to support the organization’s expansion and help achieve the ambitious goal of raising $2 million in 2025. 


Guided by faith, Nakia Washington has navigated professional setbacks with resilience, understanding that each challenge is part of a greater plan. This perspective has shaped Nakia Washington's approach to work and life, fostering an openness to new ideas and methods. Nakia Washington believes that the most important quality a board member should possess is the ability to embrace diverse perspectives. This belief is reflected in Nakia Washington's work ethic and commitment to innovation and collaboration 

 Ronald A. Herron Jr. brings a wealth of experience in operations, mentorship, and community development to his role as a member of the Board of Directors for Chosen Sports Leagues (CSL). With over 30 years of leadership across diverse industries, Ronald is a proven expert in organizational management and strategic planning. His time as Vice President of Integration Operations at Edgeworth Security, where he managed a $9 million budget and a team of over 30 professionals, honed his skills in driving operational excellence, fostering growth, and delivering impactful results. 


 In addition to his corporate experience, Ronald has spent over 10 years as a realtor, real estate investor, and loan officer in the East Contra Costa and San Joaquin Counties. His deep understanding of the real estate market and financial management has further solidified his expertise in areas crucial to nonprofit leadership, such as budget oversight and strategic planning. 


 Ronald served as Commissioner for the East County Midnight Basketball League for seven years, a non-profit organization with a mission similar to CSL, using basketball as a medium to engage youth in life skills training. His leadership there helped shape the lives of countless young people by providing not only athletic mentorship but also crucial guidance in areas such as teamwork, discipline, and personal development. 


 Ronald understands the value of healthy competition as an essential life skill. An avid basketball player for over 30 years, much of it in East Contra Costa County, Ronald has firsthand experience in how sports can teach resilience, determination, and the importance of striving for excellence. Additionally, as a three-time collegiate All-American in Track and Field, he exemplifies the discipline and dedication required to excel both on the court and in life. In addition to his operational expertise, Ronald has a strong background in financial literacy education, which aligns closely with CSL goal of equipping young people with essential life skills. From 2005 to 2008, Ronald taught financial literacy at Willow Wood School, covering topics such as budgeting, understanding the value of money, setting financial goals, the power of saving, and learning through real-life experiences. His teaching approach emphasized practical knowledge, helping students understand the importance of financial discipline and sound decision-making. 


 Ronald believes the most important quality a board member can have is integrity. In his work, he embodies this through transparent communication, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to achieving the highest standards of excellence. As a member of the Board of Directors, Ronald is excited to contribute his expertise and passion to help CSL reach new heights, empowering the next generation with the skills and values they need to succeed in life.

Roderick Ward is a dedicated law enforcement official for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, having served with distinction for over 20 years. Mr. Ward believes that a child with structure, boundaries, and a voice can succeed in any environment. That discipline earned Mr. Ward a scholarship to play football at California State University of Fresno.  


As a devoted family man, Roderick is a proud husband and father of two children, one of whom has followed in his athletic footsteps as a scholarship track athlete at Fresno Pacific University. As a board member, Mr. Ward looks to actively support the mission and sustainability of the organization by providing strategic leadership, securing financial resources, and fostering community partnerships.  


Additionally, the board member will serve as an advocate for youth development, ensuring programs align with the organization’s mission and have a measurable impact on the community.
